A practical guide from LeadNaro

How to find clients for a web design agency

Start with a specific market and a reason to contact each business. This guide follows a sample campaign for dental practices in Athens: find businesses, review their websites, build a shortlist and prepare a first conversation.

Read the workflow

1. Choose a market you can serve well

Define one location, one business category and one service. For example: dental practices in Athens, with an offer focused on making appointment information easier to find on mobile. This gives your research a clear purpose.

Define the service

Decide what you can deliver: a website redesign, clearer service pages, mobile improvements or SEO work. Use a service that matches your experience and portfolio.

Define the prospect

Choose businesses whose size, location and needs fit your offer. If you understand dental practice websites, use that knowledge to review appointment paths and essential patient information.

Before searching, write one sentence: “We help dental practices make their services and appointment options easier to understand online.”

2. Build a focused list of businesses

In LeadNaro, select Greece and Athens, then choose your business data source. With Google Places, use the Industry field for your search. With Geoapify, choose the Dentists category. Review the returned businesses before keeping them in your shortlist.

  • Check that each business matches your target market.
  • Review the listed website and available business information.
  • Keep notes on the source and anything that needs confirmation.
  • Exclude businesses that do not fit your service or location.

Google Places and Geoapify can return different businesses and details. Geoapify does not provide Google reviews. A missing website field means the source did not list a website; it does not prove the business has none.

3. Review website findings before using them in outreach

Use website analysis to identify points worth checking, then visit the website yourself. A technical finding is a starting point for research, not proof that a business needs a redesign or wants to buy your services.

Check the mobile experience

If analysis flags a missing viewport setting, open the site on a phone. Check whether the text, navigation and appointment information are usable. Describe what you actually observed.

Check the next step for visitors

Can a visitor find the practice address, service information and a contact or appointment option? Review the relevant pages before suggesting a change.

Record the page you checked, the observation and the improvement you could offer. Do not claim lost revenue or missed bookings without evidence.

4. Prioritize a small shortlist

Start with a list you can review personally. Compare the relevance of each finding, how well your service fits and whether there is a suitable business contact channel.

  1. Observation: What did you confirm on the website?
  2. Service fit: Can your agency address that point?
  3. Context: Why might it matter to this business?
  4. Next step: What small, useful action can you propose?

An opportunity score helps organize research. It does not establish purchase intent, budget or willingness to change suppliers.

5. Prepare a relevant first message

Keep the message specific: one verified observation, one practical suggestion and one simple question. Use an appropriate business contact channel and respect a request not to receive further messages.

Subject: A small suggestion for your appointment page

Hello [Name],

I reviewed [page URL] on my phone and noticed [specific issue you personally confirmed]. We help dental practices improve their website presentation and appointment information.

Would a short review with two practical suggestions be useful?

[Your name and business signature]

This is a writing example, not a finding about a real practice. Replace the placeholders with checked information.

You can write the message yourself or use optional OpenAI, Mistral or DeepSeek outreach drafts in LeadNaro. Add your sender profile and review every draft before use. A ChatGPT subscription is not required.

6. Track the conversation and refine your approach

Record contact and follow-up activity in your CRM. Update the prospect stage as the conversation develops, and keep a note of the agreed next step. A reply is not a sale; a sale requires an agreed service.

If prospects regularly say your offer is irrelevant, review your targeting. If people are interested but hesitate, review your examples, scope and pricing. Use what you learn from conversations to improve the next shortlist.

Questions about finding web design clients

Does an outdated website mean a business will buy a redesign?

No. A website observation can support a relevant conversation, but the business may have other priorities, a current supplier or no budget for changes.

Can I research businesses without an AI API key?

Yes. Business searches use your own Google Places or Geoapify API key. Connecting an AI provider is optional for generating outreach drafts.

What is included in the Free plan?

Five searches in total, with up to ten companies per search. Your business data source requires its own API key. Any provider usage charges are separate from your LeadNaro plan.
